Ibrahim Khatab is an Egyptian Artist whose main interest is mixing between painting, video art and installations. He started his career at the age of 12 as a billboard painter in streets, and later on developed passion towards Arabic calligraphy which has been ever since a significant element in his work.
Since 2007, his work has been presented frequently in the annual Youth Salon, Cairo, and has also led many workshops in Visual Arts Center, Oman; Fine Arts Association, Doha; and Sharjah Children Biennial (2013).
Khatab received a PHD degree in Calligraphy from Cairo University in 2018. He was born in 1984 in Cairo, Egypt, where he continues to live and work.
Khatab’s work has been shown in exhibitions at: Gezira Art Centre, Cairo (2013); Art Lounge gallery, Cairo (2015); Bamako Biennial, Mali (2011); Malmo Artist’s Book Biennial, Sweden (2008); Supermarket Art Fair,Sweden (2015); Nabad Art Gallery, Amman (2014); Arabian Youth Salon, Doha (2014); Investec Cape Town Art Fair (2016); Safarkhan Gallery, Cairo (2016,2018); Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial (2016,2018).
