
Is an Egyptian artist who was born in Rashid (North of Egypt) in 1983 His origins are from Luxor, an upper Egyptian city. His artistic experience was influenced by his origins, where he was exposed to the southern heritage and the upper Egypt stories. He joined the Faculty of Fine Arts, Minya University, then he moved to Alexandria, where he graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University with distinction with honors. Dr. Bastawy is an instructor in the Department of Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, and is a participant in the Egyptian artistic movement since 2003. He organized various international events, the most important of which is Aswan International Symposium for 3 consecutive years. He also participated in the First World Youth Forum and organized a number of exhibitions in Alexandria. The artist has collectibles in various Egyptian and international museums, as well as collectibles by many people in Egypt and abroad.
Dr. Bastawy is one of the young artists generation who hasn't been limited by the single technique approaches, but rather he has multiple artistic styles and methods, including sculpture, drawing and photography, that he uses to create his own magical artistic world that is inspired by a mixture of civilizations and a wide cultural heritage. When you contemplate his works, you feel the spacious space in which they float between Nubian-themed Assyrian sculptures that sank inside a Persian stylized amidst personalities and creatures hanging between reality and fiction, in a state of sober absurdity to create a state of contemporary popular mix that carries originality, modernization and identity.
